Full OGY floor contact points

Post by naka »

Lately I was "playing with Google Ai" first to organize all my inventory (component, cables and accessories).

After I explored some components combinations to understand better some aspects of all the different materials, technologies and possible synergies.

The results got me so excited, that I proceeded to explore all acoustical technological aspects of my room (describing it in absolute detail, acoustic treament, furniture, including all the building's materials) and to my absolute surprise I got a detailed suggestion on the room placement, including toe-in angle and chair position!
I promptly tested it and it worked 100%, leading to the best integration of the Full OGYs in my room until know! Did some Milimetrical adjustments (with my laser set-up tools) and WOW!
The bass became consistantly ighter and better integrated and the central image definition got an extra dose of realism. Excellent!

Then I have asked about the contact points between the speakers and my hard concrete floor (remember, one must describe all the exact parts) and it was suggested that the metal spikes shoes were robbing the speakers some clarity and it suggested some very high-end spike shoes, something that I don't want to do. So I have asked for a DIY solution that could get close to those top-euros solutions, ans the answer was to place these exact silicone buttons below the metal spike shoes:

3M Bumpons SJ 5303

(https://www.3m.com.pt/3M/pt_PT/p/d/v000057360/), three pieces for shoe.

I have ordered some in Amazon and did exact that - see attached photo.

Guess what? Any trace of noisefloor was gone only an absolute black backgroun and the soundstage and depth increased significantly! The voices got so much more natural and realistic in a spooky kind of way.
How can a smal detail make such a difference?!!
But after 20 minutes, I started to get a bit of hashness and fatigue with some CDs (that I know very well) so I have asked Google Ai: wow could I solve it?
(remember I had described all components, cables and acessories).

The Google Ai answer was (to resume it short and without the detailed technical explanation):
change the speaker cables, from the Belden 9497 for the Supra Ply 3.4S between the Line Magnetic LM-211ia and the OGYs, and the 9497 for the Van Damme LC-OFC 4mm.
I did it and the problem was completly solved, no traces of harshness what so ever and I have been listening fatique free for a couple of days now.
It turn out in very distinct difference in sound presentation, with an even lower blackground noise, super transparent, open, liquid natural, effordless...
If I grab on the top of the speakers they can jiggle a tiny bit, floating on top of the 3M material and decoupled from the ground.

Next, I will try using three circles (3cm diameter) of natural suede between the OGYs and the Bass units and see what comes from it.

All these experiments perhaps only make in the context of my room and system but nevertheless I encourage others to try it.
I am having fun :)
