I’ve personally set them up in so many different ways over time that it’s hard to even count.
Today I’d like to focus on one particular setup I tried relatively recently, which gave a very interesting result. And this time, I don’t want to talk about bass — which is what most questions are about — but about space.
Typically, I place OGY in an equilateral triangle and angle them slightly inward, so that the axes from the center of each driver cross just behind my head.
This time, however, I set them straight (no toe-in), perpendicular to the listening position — but here’s the key: I moved them much closer together.
In a 4 × 4 m room, the distance between the speakers is 115 cm, and the listening position is 180 cm from the speaker line.

As a side note, I was also listening to them with an amplifier from my student days — a Technics SU-V570 — still with me after all these years. The source was a Philips CD960.
OGY benefits from a source with some “meat” to the sound, and this Philips definitely has it. Vinyl will take it even further, but that’s a different topic.
In any case, this setup is very interesting and can be extremely appealing.

In the second photo — another recent discovery — notice that the OGY are playing with BOBs, but are placed 120 cm in front of them.

But in practice, this slight bass delay (around 2 ms) creates a remarkable effect. The layering and depth change in a very natural way. The whole presentation becomes calmer, more ordered, more coherent.
If you have the space to try this, I strongly recommend it. The effect can be quite striking — and you may find it hard to go back to a more conventional setup.
